Super Bowl Survey

What were people saying?

Just how exciting was the Super Bowl? The big game has been famous for being famous for so long that it's hard to make any new observations about it. Many fans do try, however:

[some of the commercials are more exciting than the game!]

Many fans, however, demonstrate a kneejerk reaction to the Super Bowl, a feeling that after so many underplayed outings, it can never be any good. Even an uncharacteristically interesting game like yesterday's will not please these nostalgists.

[give me starr, czonka, namath, not these strutting homeboys]

It might be better to come to the game with no prior experience. The NFL is now officially trying to turn women into football fans. If this plan worked, millions of women tuned in to the Super Bowl for the first time. Consider how entertaining the game must have been for them.

[next they'll let us vote]

It was probably less entertaining for those superstitious types who believe (based on historical performance) that an AFC win portends a bear year for the stock market.

[the stock trader's nightmare]

The happiest fans were probably philosophical souls who looked on the Bowl merely as an exercise for their enjoyment:

[as long as it's a good game...]

... or for their active participation:

[just gimme a frightwig and i'm fine]

And of course, there are always those who tune out the game entirely:

[if he perjured himself, that's a problem]
