Fat o' the Land: The Lummox logs

[simpleton declaims]

New simpleton pickin's are extremely slim. Stout-hearted readers may want to savor my review of Mike Magnuson's Lummox in the Washington Post. In retrospect, I may have been a bit harsh in my critique. (Also, be advised that I did not choose the title.) For second opinions, dig the Amazon customer reviews; those readers seem to have loved the book almost as much as I hated it. If you're looking for a book recommendation - the only real purpose (other than consumption of time) of a book review - I can give an enthusiastic thumbs up to The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier and Clay by Michael Chabon. That book came out a few years ago, and has hardly gone unnoticed, but I liked it almost as much as everybody else, and you will too. Until I come up with new material, here or elsewhere, I wish you godspeed.
