Camp X-Ray
The Pentagon is backpedaling furiously after this picture of Washington socialites Tareq and Michaele Salahi touring the Guantanamo Bay detention camp appeared on the Bravo network's Twitter feed. The Salahis, who last week surprised officials by appearing uninvited at a White House state dinner, denied sneaking into Gitmo, saying they believed their friend President Obama had already closed the controversial facility.
Mecca
Salahigate goes international as America's first couple of networking shows up in Mecca for the hajj. Saudi officials are stumped as to how the Salahis, seen here buying water from HRH Charles Prince of Wales, entered Islam's holiest city, which is by tradition closed to non-believers.
Bohemian Grove
Price fixing and nude dancing were the order of the day as the Bohemian Grove festival welcomed two surprise (and uninvited) guests. "You talk about glamour," quipped one Fortune 50 CEO, "That Michaele knows how to set my interest rate!"
NORAD
They can track Santa's sleigh, but NORAD could not keep out the Salahis as the intrepid carousers dropped in on the War Room recently. Retired Maj. Gen. Thomas F. Deppe, who appears in this photo from the Salahis' Flickr page, says he assumed the couple had clearance for the strategic site because "they seemed to know everybody in the room."
Gusev Crater, Mars
In this panoramic shot taken by the Mars Spirit rover, Washington's newest power couple mingle with Prime Talosian, whom Michaele Salahi described as an "old family friend." Asked to explain the Salahis' appearance on the Red Planet, officials at the Jet Propulsion Lab said Spirit presumed the Salahis must be friends of Opportunity.
